Ok well my last entry was a bit of a cliffhanger so I suppose I should update my diary. I did not break up with my man. I actually think our last altercation was very good because it helped our relationship alot. Being s close to losing me made him realize what he was about to mess up and he was finally able to see that he had been coming up short in terms of his treatment of me. We have been doing well ever since. Our relationship is at its best point now. We got married last month. It was just a simple civil ceremony. We will have the "real" wedding when we visit Tanzania. I can't wait.
I will be so happy when this quarter is over. I decided that I am taking summer quarter off and will spend it with Zora. Though my educational and professional goals are still important to me, I really want to put Zora first and spend as much time with her in her early years as I can. I am really beginning to come out of this Western, American mindset. Family really is what's important. Not anoy of the other materialistic things that we tend to seek. Zora is going to be 14 months old tomorrow. She is trying to talk so bad. SHe says a few words, but most of the time she is speaking her own little language non-stop. She is such a chatterbox. Its so cute to hear her though. I read to her more now-I want to help her language skills develop. I'm also more careful in the music I play around her. Yesterday I was listening to the digitil music channel-the rap station. I ended up turning it off because 1)they play unedited versions and I was offended by the lyrics and 2) I didn't want Zora listening to it. I don't want her saying the wrong things.
