The past two weeks have taught me that nothing compares to the love between a parent and a child. I have never loved anyone else the way that I love Zora. The little things have made me fall head over heels for her.Like watching her as she sleeps and seeing how content she looks. Or the way she snuggles into my chest when she is tired-it's the sweetest thing. Her size still amazes me-she is so tiny! I have thin arms, but Zora manages to comfortably use my bicep as a pillow sometimes at night. Zora has her two week checkup today and the timing is perfect. I think my little angel has thrush. She'd been nursing very strange lately. She'd feed for five minutes or less, detach & cry, fall asleep, then wake up within an hour, ready to eat again. I just thought she was being temperamental until sunday, when I noticed a white patch on the roof of her mouth. That's when it clicked-Zora isn't feeding well because she can't. The white patch is thrush and when babies have that it is painful for them to eat. So she will probably get medication for it today & it will clear up by the end of the week. Now I am wondering how much she will weigh today. I don't think she will be back up to her birth weight, but I could be wrong. I can tell that she has gained some weight; her onesies are fitting her better. I still don't fully understand why some of the manafacturers make baby clothes the way they do! Some of her clothes have the "newborn" tag on them-but also say that they fit a baby that weighs from 8-11 lbs! Considering the fact that the average newborn is 7-7.5 lbs, that makes no sense. It will be awhile before she can fit about half of her clothes; right now she'd just drown in them.
